Commission formed to probe Sindhupalchowk chopper crash

KATHMANDU, June 3: The government has formed an investigation commission to probe the cause of the crash of the Mountain Air helicopter that killed all the four people on board, including a crew member and a foreign national.

The helicopter with the call sign 9N-AJP AS 350 operated by the Mountain Air, a private civil aviation company, crashed Tuesday in a jungle at Yamuna Danda of Balefi in Sindhupalchowk after hitting a power pylon, killing Captain Subek Shrestha, Dr Sandeep Mahat, Sher Bahadur Karki and a Dutch woman Jessica Wilford.The chopper was returning to the capital after supplying relief goods to the earthquake survivors.

The three-member Commission formed under the chair of Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, comprises Captain Pramod Lama of Shree Airlines, Engineer Janak Thapa of Manang Air and Promod Nepal, Under Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation .

It was formed as per the minister-level decision earlier today, said Ministry Spokesperson Mohan Krishna Sapkota. RSS
