KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The fourth edition of the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) National Men’s Volleyball Tournament is set to start from June 2.
At a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, Bigyan Dev Pandey, assistant director of Public Relation Directorate of Nepal Army, said the tournament was being hosted with an objective to help develop the sport in the country. Stating that Nepal Army has always been contributing in the promotion of sports in the country, he said the tournament will provide the much-needed exposure to players.
The tournament, which will be played at Army Physical Training and Sports Center, will run till June 9. It will be held in league cum knockout format, and will feature three departmental teams -- Army, Nepal Police Club, and Armed Police Force (APF) Club -- and seven provincial teams. The 10 teams will be divided into two groups. The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of Rs 300,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 150,000. Also, the third-placed team will receive Rs 75,000.
The best player of the tournament will get a Pulsar bike, while the best spiker, the best blocker, the best defender, the best lifter, the best server and the best coach will earn Rs 10,000 each.
