KATHMANDU, May 6: Members of Citizens´ Movement for Democracy and Peace (CMDP) met with the outgoing prime minister early Wednesday and expressed deep concern over the recently published video tape of the former, which, in their view, would derail the peace process.

Present during the meeting in Baluwatar were Dr Devendra Raj Panday and Krishna Pahadi, among others.

Prime Minister and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal told the CMDP that he would clarify the issue through a press meet later on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the NGO Federation of Nepal too has raised serious concern over the political turn of events. "We have said that there is no alternative to formulating a national consensus at such a grave time," Dr Netra Prasad Timalsina told Republica. "We will soon formulate new strategy regarding how to move ahead in such a time."

Organizing a protest rally in the capital on Tuesday, the Federation has appealed to the political parties to move ahead with consensus.
