Civil society's urge to call off strike

KATHMANDU, May 3: A group of 15 civil society leaders Monday urged the UCPN-Maoist to withdraw the indefinite strike and asked all political parties to show maximum flexibility to seek solution to the current political impasse.



Issuing a joint statement, the civil society leaders asked the Maoists to seek solution to their demands in parliament and act responsibly as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA). [break]



Similarly, they also asked the parties to discuss their differences in the High Level Political Mechanism.



Those issuing statement included Kul Chandra Gautam, Shambhu Thapa, Kapil Shrestha, Subodh Raj Pyakurel, Tika Ram Bhattarai, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Kanak Mani Dixit, Chandra Kishor, Hari Bansha Acharya, Sushil Pyakurel, Sindhu Nath Pyakurel, Dipendra Jha and Ravi Thakur.
