KATHMANDU, June 7: The film industry-aligned organizations have submitted a memorandum to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma asking the government to increase investment in the film industry.
A delegation led by Chairperson of Film Artistes Association of Nepal Mohan Niraula met Minister Sharma and complained about the absence of a government agenda to promote Nepali films.
The memorandum includes implementation of film policy and film act and addressing film artistes' demands by the Film Development Board and other government agencies. The Association has also raised the issue of reduced customs rate for international films. On the occasion, Minister Sharma pledged to address the demands of the Association adding that films play a crucial role in social transformation, according to Chair Niraula.
