According to officiating CIAA Chief Lalit Bahadur Limbu, the commission has deployed special investigative teams in offices such as Inland Revenue, Survey, Transportation and District Administration Offices. As per the new measure, service seekers, who have been forced to pay bribes, may record audio complaints with the teams, Limbu added. On the basis of such complaints, such teams are authorized to demand clarification with the chiefs of such offices.
“The institutional heads and deputies will be asked to furnish clarification on such complaints,” Limbu said, adding “The whole process will be conducted on the spot.”
The first of such investigations was carried out at Dillibazar and Chabahil Inland Revenue offices recently. “We have also deployed such teams outside the capital.”
Limbu said the voice recording investigation had proved effective. While recording voices, service seekers are asked to fearlessly reveal their plight.
“If found guilty, errant officials will be recommended for departmental actions,” Limbu said.
Meanwhile, the CIAA has issued five-point directives to government offices. “We have issued directives asking government offices to act on service seekers´ call on the same day,” said Limbu.
