KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) is set to ban share trading activities within Singha Durbar.
Following complaints filed with the CIAA alleging that government employees are engaging in share trading during office hours, the authority is set to ban the Trade Management System (TMS) used for share trading within the premises.
According to sources, the CIAA is planning to issue a directive through the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to shut down the TMS within Singha Durbar during office hours. The official communication regarding this matter is expected to be made on Sunday.

Complaints have been raised that employees inside Singha Durbar were neglecting their duties to engage in share trading during office hours, thereby affecting government work.
With the recent surge in the share market, employees have been found spending time on their mobile phones, laptops, and computers, monitoring NEPSE and TMS, according to complaints.
As a result, employees were reportedly not writing comments on files, not providing requested opinions or suggestions, and generally neglecting their work. Following these complaints, the CIAA decided to address the issue by communicating with the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Sources said that this move by the CIAA will discourage employees from prioritizing share trading over their official duties.
