KATHMANDU, June 10: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has asked Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah to provide details regarding his visit to France in May last year.
According to sources, the CIAA has asked for clarification on the inclusion of Shah's secretariat members, Sunil Lamsal and Kumar Byanjankar, in the delegation as official staff during the trip.

Mayor Shah had attended several events at the Cannes Film Festival during his visit including meetings with the festival’s director, red carpet appearances, and audiovisual content creation chain observations. A reception was also organized in his honor at the Cannes Multimedia Library.
He visited France from May 14 to May 20, 2024. The CIAA's inquiry follows a complaint filed over the official status granted to his secretariat members during the trip.
