KATHMANDU, April 19: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has started investigation into the alleged connection of some Nepalis in the Panama Papers.

The CIAA showed its concerns over the Panama Papers alleging wealthy individuals and public officials of hiding property from public with the help of offshore companies established by a Panamanian law firm.

CIAA Spokesperson Krishnahari Pushkar said that the CIAA decided to investigate into the Panama Papers in cooperation with the government agencies and diplomatic missions abroad as names of some Nepalis were found connected to it.

Though over a dozen Nepali were supposed to have the link with the Panama Papers, their identities and economic status is yet to be known. The CIAA has too guessed that Nepal may have the connection with such mega corruption scandal. RSS
