Chitwan in high alert after polio detection

CHITWAN, Aug 6: District Public Health Office, Chitwan, is in high alert following the detection of bacteria of polio disease in its eastern belt.



Earlier to this, polio bacteria ‘P1’ were seen in Mahottari and Rautahat districts. The government has planned to administer polio drops on August 14 and 15 in 18 districts including Chitwan, said Chief Public Health Officer Mahendra Shrestha. [break]



He said awareness campaigns have been launched to inform all to feed the polio drops. Children above one year of age and below 5 years will be administered polio drops.



The health office has set up 500 centers to administer polio drops to around 66,000 children in Chitwan.
