Chitwan factory gutted

CHITWAN, April 12: Property worth millions of rupees was destroyed in a fire at Jyoti Print and Packaging Factory in Mangalpur-4, Chitwan, on Monday morning.



The factory established 10 years ago makes around 100,000 cartoons used for packaging goods every day, according to proprietor Sanjay Agrawal who put the loss at tens of millions including the machines, cartoons and papers.



“We had installed an automatic machine worth Rs 80,000,000 last year only. It has been completely destroyed,” Agrawal said. Only an offset press has been spared.



Security guard Dambar Bahadur Thapa said the fire was seen at around 3:45 a.m. after employees went to sleep working till 2 a.m. The fire was taken under control around noon with the help of fire engines from Butwal, Hetauda and Bharatpur.
