Chinese delegation arrives

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People´s Congress of China and vice-president of the Chinese People´s Association for Peace and Disarmament Yan Junqi arrived here Tuesday on a five-day-long visit of Nepal. [break]



Briefly talking to media at Tribhuvan International Airport, Yan expressed his happiness for the visit to a naturally beautiful country like Nepal. Yan is leading a 13-member delegation.



"This is my first visit to Nepal. I am convinced that this would strengthen Nepal-China relations," Yan said.



Yan is scheduled to hold separate talks with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Minister for Foreign Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire regarding the issues of mutual interests and concerns.



According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yan would hold discussions with the civil society leaders in the capital and would also visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pokhara and the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Lumbini.



Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai and Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hemlal Bhattarai welcomed Yan at the TIA.
