KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The Government of China has provided technical assistance to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for the management of garbage in the Kathmandu Valley.

China has donated 108 vehicles, 4,000 dustbins and four ambulances worth Rs. 300 million.[break] Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Qiu Guohong handed over the keys of vehicles to KMC Executive Officer Ananda Raj Pokharel amidst a programme on Friday.

The technical assistance is believed to make garbage collection easy at a time when the KMC is using tractors to collect garbage.

At the programme, Ambassador Gohoang said the vehicles were donated for the effective management of garbage in Kathmandu Valley and to keep the city clean.

The KMC chief and its Environment Management Department chief Santa Ram Pokharel said that the Chinese assistance will help strengthen the garbage management system.
