Prime Minister´s Foreign Relations Advisor Milan Raj Tuladhar confirmed that Chinese government has decided to replace Qui. “We have received request for appointment through foreign ministry with prime minister to make a farewell call,” he said.
The reason behind the recall is not known. Chinese government normally sends envoys for a three-year diplomatic assignment. Qui arrived in Kathmandu in November, 2008.
The Chinese government has not yet announced the name of its new ambassador to Nepal.
Coincidentally, the Chinese government´s decision to recall Qiu comes shortly after the conclusion of a three-day visit to Nepal by People´s Liberation Army (PLA) Chief General Chen Bingde. The envoy is expected to leave Kathmandu within a week.
