KATHMANDU, Jan 13: China has committed a grant of Rs 12.4 billion to Nepal since 2015, according to Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba. She shared this information during a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee in Parliament.
Dr Rana stated that in addition to the previously announced grants and cash aid from China, totaling around USD 20 million (approximately Rs 2.7 billion), President Xi Jinping recently announced an additional grant of Chinese yuan 500 million (approximately Rs 9.34 billion) to Nepal.

The new grant was announced during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official visit to China in December.
The International Relations Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) convened on Monday to discuss the outcomes of Prime Minister Oli's visit. Minister Rana highlighted that a joint statement was issued, summarizing the agreements made during the visit. The statement reviewed past agreements and outlined steps to further strengthen Nepal-China relations.
Nepal and China plan to organize programs in 2025 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. These efforts aim to expedite the implementation of agreements, enhance high-level exchanges, build mutual trust, and foster greater cooperation for bilateral benefits.
