China committed to extending support in Nepal's development and prosperity

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Newly appointed Republic of China's ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi paid a courtesy call to speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara at the latter's office in Singha Durbar.

In the meeting, Mahara appraised the deep ties between Nepal and China's governments and its people.

"The political and diplomatic relationship between Nepal and China is deep. So is the relationship between the people of the two countries. This has helped to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries," Mahara said.

He also extended wishes for a successful tenure of the ambassador and expressed hope of strengthening the relationship between the two countries further. 

Mahara praised China's assistance in Nepal's hydroelectricity sector, tourism, roads among others and wished for continued support in the future. He added that China's Belt and Road Initiative would benefit Nepal. The speaker said that he firmly believed the Nepal-China railways would soon materialize via Kerung-Rasuwagadi-Kathmandu.   

In turn, Hou Yanqi said Sino-Nepal ties were extremely close and said that she'd work to make the relationship deeper and more beneficial during her tenure. She added that she'd also work to assist Nepal in its development and prosperity. She added that Nepal was an important partner country in the Belt and Road Initiative and hoped Nepal would reap the benefits as well.
