Chaudhary who was appointed from the Tarai Madesh Democratic Party during the Madhav Kumar Nepal led government tendered his resignation after the formation of new government and appointment of new Sports Minister from the UPCN (Maoist). [break]
Chaudhary said he resigned from the post as he had earlier promised to do so with acting Sports Minister Barsa Man Pun.
“Minister Pun had urged me to stay in the post for some time but I have resigned after the appointment of a new minister,” adding, “ Now I don´t have any right to retain the post since I was appointed to the post by TMDP and there is a new government in the country,” Chaudhary told Republica over phone.
Chaudhary is currently in Birgunj. Chaudhary has also urged other board members of the NSC to resign their posts and pave way for the new leadership to function smoothly.
Chaudhary will be working in the capacity of member secretary until his resignation will be approved by the government.
