Chandannath Municipality organizing investment conference on Sept 14

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Chandannath Municipality of Jumla has announced to organize an investment conference with an objective to bring investments in the municipality.


The event, which is scheduled for September 14, is the first attempt by any local body across the country to attract investments. 


Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada will inaugurate the event, according to a statement issued by Chandannath Municipality on Sunday. National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice Chairperson Pushpa Kandel and Member Min Bahadur Shahi will also address the event.

According to the press release, business community of Chandannath Municipality and investors will discuss on the investment opportunities in the municipality as well as the Karnali Province which lags behind other parts of the country in terms of development and private sector investment. 


The conference will focus on bringing investment in agriculture, tourism and medicinal herbs collection and processing sectors, among others. 


Kantika Sejuwal, mayor of Chandannath Municipality, said that the municipality will also conduct site visit to potential investment areas in the municipality during the conference.


The theme of investment conference is 'Development and Harnessing theials'. The event will be held at Karnali Technical School. 


Mayor Sejuwal said that the conference will help to bringing investments in the municipality, Jumla district and overall Karnali Zone.
