JUMLA, Sep 2: Chandannath Municipality is gearing up to organize the Jumla Conference aimed at promoting development prospects of the local units. Jumla District Coordination Committee has suggested the municipality to rename the conference as Chandannath Investment Convention.
Issuing a press release on Friday, Lal Bahadur Sarki, chief of the District Coordination Committee drew the attention of the local body to attract investment while organizing such conference.
Jumla remains disconnected from province capital
“We want to request the municipality to name the convention as Chandannath Investment Convention so that this area could be developed.” Dismayed with the decision to waive taxes for companies willing to work in Jumla, the DCC has suggested the municipality to do so saying it will affect the locals. “The concept of not taking tax from investors in Jumla district will incur loss for the locals,” said the DCC, adding, “We request the municipality to withdraw its decision to waive taxes to the investors,” said Sarki.
The conference is scheduled to take place on September 14 at Karnali Technical School.
The conference is supposed to promote the tourist areas and underutilized herbs of the district.
