KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The Special Court on Wednesday acquitted gangster Chakre Milan alias Milan Gurung in a six-year-old money laundering case.
A three-member bench of judges Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chandi Raj Dhakal and Pramod Kumar Shrestha Vaidya acquitted Gurung and his wife Indira Ghale Gurung of money laundering, stating that the government could not prove the charges against them with concrete evidence.
The government had lodged the case against them saying that they accumulated assets amounting to Rs 78.1 million from unknown sources.
The government had filed the case against Gurung and his wife in 2012.
