KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The chief whips of the ruling and main opposition parties have reached an agreement on the division and distribution of the chairmanship of the parliamentary committees. The discussion between the top leaders which will be held on Monday afternoon will finalize the arrangement of the chairmanships of parliamentary committees.
During the CPN (Maoist Center) parliamentary party meeting held on Monday, Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey announced that an agreement has been reached between the ruling coalition and the main opposition CPN-UML. According to the agreement, the Nepali Congress will chair four committees. UML will chair three and Maoist Center will chair two committees. Similarly, Janata Samajwadi Party, Unified Socialist Party and Janamat Party will chair one committee each.
On the other hand, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have not got the opportunity to head any parliamentary committee.
