KATHMANDU, July 19: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed the need for change in the current electoral system to combat corruption.

"There is a clear stance of the Maoist Centre on the amendment of the current electoral system in the constitution. An expensive electoral system is the reason behind deepening corruption," he said, "A fully proportional parliament and a directly elected executive presidential system are essential."

He emphasized the need for full inclusion and proportional representation based on population. Referring to the issues raised by the forum, Chairman Dahal mentioned that he is positive and urged readiness for a movement if necessary for a change in the system.

"This initiative of the forum is positive. Change is not possible just by making the leaders understand these demands and suggestions. If it is necessary to establish the demands and issues of the people, we are ready to campaign, and you should also be prepared for that."
