Celebrating Gai Jatra with satire and art

KATHMANDU, July 31: Artudio, in collaboration with Kathmandu Contemporary Art Center (KCAC), is gearing up to celebrate Gai Jatra with an art competition. Working around the theme of Kalajatra, aspiring visual artists are welcome to send in their works. Three entries per participant, regardless of age, are accepted for the Artudio Kalajatra Visual Art Competition.



Satirical and humorous memes, drawings, paintings, doodles, photographs, collages and cartoons can be submitted for the competition. The submissions must be previously unpublished. [break]



The best three submissions will be awarded with cash prizes. The top 20 art works will be exhibited during the Kalajatra exhibition. Kailash Shrestha, visual artist, said, “By including memes, photographs and cartoons, we’re hoping to bring all the creative visual artists under one roof.”



Interested applicants should visit artudio.org/kalajatra/ and fill up the contest form. The last date for submission is August 15.
