KATHMANDU, Nov 18: A high-level delegation led by the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya on Friday in connection with security management for the November 20 election to the House of Representatives(HoR) and provincial assemblies.
During the meeting held at the Election Commission Secretariat, Kantipath, CoAS Sharma briefed the EC officials about the works and activities carried out by the Nepalese Army in connection with the election security. On the occasion, CoAS Sharma shared that the election security has been effective in terms of on-site observation and intelligence gathered so far. He further said that the army was ready to take up any role that it has to shoulder in order to hold the election in a peaceful and secure environment.

CEC Thapaliya thanked the Nepalese Army for providing vital support in printing the ballot papers, transporting them, verifying the election materials and packaging them and transporting other election materials to the polling stations including those in the remote mountainous regions.
Election commissioners Ishwori Prasad Poudyal, Ram Prasad Bhandari and Sagun Shumsher JB Rana were present during the meeting. They acknowledged notable cooperation from the Nepalese Army in the context of preparations for the election, compliance with the election code of conduct and managing election security.
