CEC demands security for candidates, voters

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Chief Election Commissioner (EC) has urged the government to ensure foolproof security for candidates and voters to ensure elections of the federal parliament and provincial assembly in a free and fair environment.

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Chief Election Commissioner (EC) has urged the government to ensure foolproof security for candidates and voters to ensure elections of the federal parliament and provincial assembly in a free and fair environment.  In a statement, Yadav asked the government and security agencies to take necessary measures to allow voters to go to the polling stations without fear.

Yadav's remarks come at a time when an increasing number of poll candidates are coming under attack. Anti elections groups have hurled bombs targeting poll campaigns of more than three dozen leaders including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Chairman KP Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
