Addressing the concluding session of the two-day Media Conference jointly organised by Editors Society Nepal and BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation on Sunday, Acharya expressed the hope the nation would find a way out to the current political deadlock through consensus among the parties.[break]
The objective of organizing the Conference was to enhance the friendly relations existing between Nepal and India, it is learned.
"It would be very difficulty to accelerate the constitution drafting process without taking the peace process to conclusion", said the Constitutional Committee Chairman, urging the parties to focus on these tasks instead of on power.
The army integration, the major part of the peace process, has not been completed yet, he said, adding the process of constitution writing would be completed only through the Constituent Assembly and the parties should give their attention towards this.
Senior journalist Kishor Nepal praised the Indian people and media for their support in making the movements launched for independence in Nepal successful.
Another journalist Harihar Birahi stressed on the need to incorporate press freedom and freedom of expression an ´inalienable rights´ in the new constitution.
Indian journalist Bharat Bhusan said the Conference was successful in strengthening the relations between the peoples and journalists of the two countries.
Minor issues could not disturb the friendly relations subsisting between the two countries for years, he added.
Society Vice Chairman Narayan Sapkota and treasurer Shyam Dotel said the Conference was successful in advancing the mutual relations between the two neighbouring countries
