Carter Center representative calls on PM

KATHMANDU, April 20: Consultant at the Carter Center, Peter Worli, called on Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at his residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.



In the meeting, Prime Minister Nepal said he is presenting himself with maximum extent of flexibility for taking the peace process to a logical conclusion, stressing on integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants for that purpose, the Prime Minister’s press advisor Bishnu Rijal said.[break]



Stating he is clear in his view that there is no alternative to consensus and collaboration among the political parties, the Prime Minister emphasized that all should accept the democratic values, norms and system for that purpose.



The prime minister said any work done by undemocratic means is not acceptable to him and called on all sides to give up their obstinacy for institutionalizing the republic and giving concrete shape to the people’s aspirations.



Carter Center consultant Worli had expressed interest in the peace process and the constitution-writing in Nepal. He also said the Carter Center is ready to provide necessary assistance to that end.
