Ajad Shrestha, a presidential candidate has presented tourism, agriculture, human resource, hydro and information technology (IT) as having comparative advantage over others and said his tenure, if elected, would give special priority for the development of those sectors.[break]
“If elected, I will try to develop these sectors as the nation´s economy rests on their effective development,” said Shrestha speaking at a program Sunday.
Shrestha added that until professionalism is encouraged in the industrial sector, the economy of the nation will not make remarkable leap forward. He also said his entire team will spread the message that the nation has investment friendly climate.
Pradip Man Baidhya, a vice-presidential candidate from Ajads´ group, expressed worry for frequent industrial unrest despite the understanding reached between the employers and workers.
“I would like to push forward the agenda of finding a lasting solution for the prevailing industrial problems,” he said.
Speaking at the program, members representing the panel of Suraj Vaidya, another presidential candidate, promised to redefine the role of private sector if the result sweeps them to the FNCCI leadership.
Vaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, candidate of senior vice-president from Vaidya´s panel said that the upcoming election is a tussle of beliefs for the sake of progressive economic sector.
Being situated between two economic giants -- India and China, he said his group would try to forge economic engagements with these nations in a bid to imitate their economic models.
He also claimed that the panel has not relied on any political favor so far.
Similarly, Bhawani Rana, a candidate for vice-presidency from municipal and district council, said that she would try to establish a separate body to facilitate interaction with district and municipal wings, try to make the wings financially strong and to empower women industrialists with entrepreneurship skills.
