Issuing a press release on Thursday, CAN clarified that it would not be responsible for financial or managerial aspect of the tournament and the event shall be conducted under sole responsibility of Zohra Sports Management (ZSM).Earlier, CAN was named the organizer of the NPL which included 50-over and T20 format tournaments under its umbrella and Zohra would look after management of the tournament.
NPL's 50-over format was held in May last year in Dhanagadhi and Kanchanpur amidst controversy within CAN whether to own the tournament or disown it.
CAN, named as the organizer prior to kick off of 50-over, had declared of breaking its ties from the event expressing dissatisfaction with the working style of ZSM. CAN had also refused to provide its technical manpower - umpires and others - forcing the ZSM to hire the technical manpower from India.
But CAN on Thursday said that it would provide TU Cricket Ground as well as technical manpower as per the request of ZSM for organizing the tournament.
Its release of CAN further states, CAN had no objection with players and officials participating in the tournament. The release also said that the tournament will be instrumental in the development of the game by providing professional opportunity to the players and identification of emerging players.
The date of the T20 event had already been postponed three times already after it came into controversy with CAN.
