KATHMANDU, June 16: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) grossly failed to manage programs during the official visit of Indian cricket captain Mehendra Singh Dhoni in Nepal on Saturday.

Dhoni met players of the Nepali national team, U-19 as well as women´s team at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur in the afternoon and attended an interaction program named - An Evening with Mahendra Singh Dhoni - in the evening.[break]

However, both the programs were grossly mismanaged. At the TU Ground, around 1,000 cricket fans greeted Dhoni and applauded his meeting with Nepali players from outside the field while CAN officials and its invitees crowded the ground. Nepali photojournalists were bared from entering the ground but CAN officials and even security personnel on duties were busy taking Dhoni´s photograph in their mobile phone. Some security personnel even manhandled some photojournalists and TV camerapersons.

Invitees´ children and family members equally crowded the interaction program but the Nepali national team players and coach Pubudu Dassanayake could not get chair and were forced to stand on a corner.

On the other hand, CAN could not manage designated area for the press photographers and camerapersons during the interaction programs and when some Dhoni´s fans joined the photojournalists, the front stage turned out to be a bizarre area.

"We apologize to media and others as we could not arrange things properly," said Aamir Akhtar, the advisor of CAN.
