Administrative staffers of the campus have padlocked the campus since December 12, 2012 putting forth a six-point demand. The agitating campus staffers have also accused Principal Murari Singh of trying to sack chief of the administrative section of the campus Balaram Panta.[break]
Students of the campus had submitted a memorandum to the principal a week ago demanding resumption of classes. The students also staged a violent demonstration on Thursday after no initiatives were taken to resume classes. Students affiliated to various student unions also vandalized campus furniture.
Police had arrested district secretary of Free Student Union Ishwor Dutta Badu, district chairman of All Nepal National Free Students Union Dammar Raj Joshi, and district member of Nepal Student Union Shyam Nanda Bhattari for vandalism.
The campus was supposed to have already enrolled students for various language training courses, including one-year BEd program by the end of mid-March. But the enrollment process has not begun due to negligence of the campus chief, said Badu of FSU.
On March 5, a three-member team from Nepal Sanskrit University had arrived in Mahendranagar to settle the dispute in the campus, but to no avail.
Balaram Panta, chief administration officer in the campus, said the talks team had no representation from the administrative section, examination section and account section.
However, principal Singh denied all the accusations. “I had ensured representation of all the departments in the talks. What can I do if they do not attend the talks?” said Murari.
