KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The government has decided to cut 68 bureaucratic positions at the Office of Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers (OPMCM) as a part of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s plan to restructure his office.
According to Government Spokesperson and Information Minister Rekha Sharma, a cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to cut 68 positions at the OPMCM. The vacancies were reduced as per the recommendations made by a fresh Office and Management (O&M) survey conducted to ensure effectiveness of the prime minister’s office.

The move comes days after Prime Minister Dahal announced to restructure his office to ensure efficiency and effective service delivery in his address to the nation on the occasion of completing first year in office.
The cabinet meeting on Thursday also decided to set the support price of Rs 3,650 per quintal wheat for the fiscal year 2023/24. Similarly, the cabinet meeting decided to appoint Mahesh Bhattarai as Secretary of CTEVT.
