Govt announces one-day national mourning on Monday after deadly plane crash

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: An emergency meeting of the cabinet held on Sunday afternoon decided to observe one-day national mourning on Monday to mourn over the deaths of dozens of passengers and crew members in the Yeti Airline plane crash in Pokhara.

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: An emergency meeting of the cabinet held on Sunday afternoon decided to observe one-day national mourning on Monday to mourn over the deaths of dozens of passengers and crew members in the Yeti Airline plane crash in Pokhara.


Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said that the government has decided to observe one day national mourning after the fatal accident.

The cabinet meeting also formed a five-member probe commission to investigate the crash involving the Yeti Airline's plane in Pokhara on Sunday.


A ill-fated plane on its way to Pokhara from Kathmandu met with an accident in the gorge of Seti River at 11 am on Sunday. A total of 72 people including four crew members and 68 passengers were onboard the plane which took off from Kathmandu airport at 10:33AM. The flight duration between Kathmandu and Pokhara is approximately 25 minutes.
