A proposal prepared by some CPN-UML leaders and officially presented by General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel on behalf of the party´s secretariat at the politburo meeting on Sunday has suggested to Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal to be ready to step down and pave the way for formation of a national consensus government.[break]
"The meeting has unanimously endorsed the proposals except some of the disputed issues related to the constitution making process including the form of governance," UML Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali told Republica.
He said the UML will hold further discussions on constitution making issues in the central committee meeting that is scheduled to start on Tuesday.
The meeting endorsed the proposal that said not more than 5,000 Maoist combatants should be integrated into the government security agency and the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) should be extended by six months only.
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel, Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Standing Committee member KP Sharma Oli, among leaders, participated at the meeting.
The proposal will be finalized after holding discussion on it at the ongoing politburo and at the central committee meeting that is scheduled to start from Tuesday.
