KATHMANDU, May 16: A joint meeting of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party and central committee on Sunday decided that the Constituent Assembly (CA) term should only be extended if a package agreement on the peace process is reached.
The recommendation of the meeting held at the parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar will now be discussed by NC.[break]
According to spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC, majority of the leaders who have spoken have said that the term extension should be done only after ‘confirming that the constitution would be completed in the extended term.’[break]
“They also said that Maoists should follow the agreements in the past and some of the leaders were put views that NC should lead the next government as both the governments led by Maoists and UML have failed,” KC added.
The meeting will put forward the recommendation for the term extension of the CA.
