BUTWAL, June 28: Butwal-Palpa road has been disrupted due to landslides in various places.
The Butwal-Palparoad section was disrupted since today morning after a landslide occurred in Siddhababa of Siddhartha Highway.
Construction of six-lane road still incomplete, six years on
According to the Lumbini Provincial Traffic Police Office, Butwal, a landslide with large stones has fallen from the road near the dam side in Tinau Rural Municipality-3 of Palpa since Tuesday morning. It has been said that road operation will take longer as the landslide hasn’t stopped even after attempts by the police.
The Butwal-Dobhan section of Siddhartha Highway and Siddhababa area are disrupted due to landslides and mudslides during rain. Many lives have been lost due to landslides in Siddhababa even in winter.
Passengers from Palpa, Gulmi, Argakhachi, Baglung, Syanja, Kaskiand other districts passing through Butwal are stranded on the way to Butwal and Palpa since morning.
Similarly, the Butwal-Narayanghat road section of East West Highway has also been disrupted in different places. A road under construction in Sunwal, Nawalparasihas also been disrupted due to washing away of the diversion. According to the police, the road was blocked due to a flood in the Arun River of West Nawalparasi.
