Issuing a press statement on Friday, WFP Nepal said it aims to provide iodized food items across 26 districts of Nepal. The iodized food will also be distributed to Bhutanese refugee camps in eastern Nepal, the released quoted WFP Country Representative Richard Regan as saying. [break]
Nepal is among 54 countries that are struggling to eliminate preventable iodine deficiencies and their life long effects.
Meanwhile, Regan and Israeli Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Dan Stav signed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in the field of irrigation and drinking water system.
The MoC will be applied for collaborative efforts on international programs and activities by identifying areas of common interests and priorities based on Nepal´s development strategies, and in accordance with the availability of funds, the release stated.
NBL re-opens branch office
KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) has reopened its branch office Manigram in Rupandehi from Thursday. The bank has started all banking services from the branch.
The bank has also opened its branch office in Khasyauli and started operation of ATM and Debit Card service in Butwal and Siddharthanagar. Issuing a press statement, the bank also said it has started ATM and Debit Card service in its Trishuli branch.
Nepal bank has a network of 107 branches across the country. Eleven of the branches provide ATM and Debit Card serivce. The bank plans to operate ATM and Debit Card service in 10 additional branches within the second week of March.
