Surendra Bhandari, CEO of Siddhartha Bank, and Larry Wang, vice president-international division of China Unipay, recently signed a formal agreement to this effect at China Unipay´s headquarters in Shanghai, the bank said in a press statement on Sunday. [break]
China Unipay has its coverage in over 90 countries with more than 2 billion cards in circulation along with ATMs & POS networks globally.
Keeping in mind the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign, the bank will start accepting CUP cards through its ATM & POS network.
BoK´s CSR in education
KATHMANDU, June 20: As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and in line with its social awareness campaign ´Save for the Future´, Bank of Kathmandu Ltd (BoK) opened ´Nava Kopila Bachat Khata´ account for 50 children of Friends of Needy Children, a social organization, with a deposit of minimum balance of Rs 1,000.
It also deposited Rs 100 in each account as part of the scheme and will deposit a cash gift of Rs. 133.33 on child´s birthday, every year.
In a function held on Saturday, the bank also gifted ´BOK Piggy Banks´ to all the children so as to inculcate saving habits amongst them and also gifted them with educational materials.
NIC Bank´s lending portfolio impressive
KATHMANDU, June 20: NIC Bank has claimed that it is among the few banks that are providing Home Loans, Auto Loans & SME Loans.
“Even for large corporate loans, NIC has not cancelled any limit or revoked any commitments to customers despite the severe liquidity crunch in the industry due to prudent planning and balance-sheet management,” the bank said in a statement Sunday. The bank also said that it actively supports investment in new industrial projects as well.
“We are also a major lender in micro-finance lending with Rs. 438 million invested under Deprived Sector Lending Program through geographically scattered micro-finance intermediaries benefiting about 22,000 families,” the statement added.
NIC has financed more than 600 Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which has been the major strategic thrust of the Bank since the last three years.
