Annapurna Finance donates Rs 50,000
On the occasion of its seventeenth anniversary, Annapurna Finance Company donated Rs 50,000 to Lions Club for the construction of blood collection centre. Issuing a press statement, the company said that the money was handed over by Krishnaraj Lamichhane, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company to the Lions Club. The company also expressed its commitment towards the continuation of CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities in the future as well. According to the statement, 20 employees from the company donated blood on the occasion.
DHL´s disaster preparedness program
Nepal has become the new beneficiary of the disaster preparedness program that Deutsche Post DHL and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched last year. The program named ´Get Airports Ready for Disaster´ (GARD) is aimed at preparing airports and staff in disaster-prone areas to cope with the impact of natural catastrophes. The company also organized a weeklong training under this theme, according to a press release. The training targeted Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, and other airports in Nepalganj, Biratnagar, Simara and Pokhara. "Our DHL Disaster Response Teams have years of experience in affected areas. We believe that the training will help Nepal tackle natural disasters," the release quoted Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post DHL as saying. The training was carried out by a team of DHL airport operations experts and included exercises on how to evaluate, prepare, manage, co-ordinate and lead a relief effort at airports. GARD was originally launched in 2009 and piloted successfully in Indonesia.
