THAI marks 45th anniversary in Nepal
KATHMANDU: Thai Airways International (THAI) has completed 45 years of operations in Nepal. The airlines that operated its first flight to Nepal on December 4, 1968 organized a function in the capital on Saturday to mark its 45th anniversary in Nepal. On the occasion, the airlines honored its top 10 ticket sales agents and top five cargo agents.
According to a press statement issued by the airlines, Thai Airways General Manager for Nepal and Bhutan Chantouch Srinilta conferred the award of top passenger sales agent on Osho World Travels. Legend Cargo was awarded for being the top cargo agent. “THAI also honored other agents for their outstanding performance and support for mutual benefits,” read the statement issued by the airlines on Thursday. During the function, team building exercise was also carried out among the agents and THAI staff.
Etihad announces special fares
KATHMANDU: Etihad Airways, the national flag carrier of United Arab Emirates, has unveiled "special rates" for its Coral economy class passengers. “The special fares are for eight destinations around the world from Kathmandu,” the airlines said in a press statement. The destinations wherein the special rates are applicable include London, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Munich, Brussels, Geneva and New York. The company said the rates would be applicable from December 4 to 31.
Barsha wins Colors Mobile´s contest
KATHMANDU: Colors Mobile on Thursday declared Barsha Maharjan as the winner of its ´Colors X Factor Video Upload Competition´ and handed over to her Honda Dio amid a function in Kathmandu. Issuing a press statement, the company said Maharjan from Nardevi was declared the winner because her dance video was liked 3,565 times by Facebook users. As part of the contest, Colors Mobile had asked new talents to showcase their X-factor through an uncut two minute video, saying participants whose video gets maximum number of "likes" would win the contest. A total of 174 people had taken part in the contest.
Nepal Bank appoints CIT as issue manager
KATHMANDU: Nepal Bank Limited has appointed Citizens Investment Trust (CIT) as its issue manager for the launch of rights shares. An agreement to this effect was signed between Maheshwor Lal Shrestha, coordinator of the bank, and Rishi Ram Gautam, executive director of CIT, on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the bank. The bank is offering 36.19 million units of rights shares worth Rs 100 each to its shareholders. On average, every shareholder should purchase 9.5 units of shares. This will raise Rs 3.61 billion in fresh capital, which will aid bank´s recapitalization plan.
Lumbini Finance to give away dividends
KATHMANDU: Lumbini Finance and Leasing Company is extending 10 percent bonus share and 16.32 percent cash dividend to its shareholders from the profit made in the last fiscal year. The decision has been approved by a meeting of board of directors of the finance company held on Wednesday. The finance company, with a paid up capital of 268.12 million, generated a net profit of Rs 80.7 million in the last fiscal year. It has so far collected Rs 1.55 billion in deposits and extended Rs 1.41 billion in loans.
Bhandari to be elected NBA prez Friday
KATHMANDU: Citizens Bank CEO Rajan Singh Bhandari will be unanimously elected as the president of Nepal Bankers´ Association on Friday. His election is confirmed as no one else had filed candidacy for the top post till Wednesday, the last day of filing candidacy. He will replace Himalayan Bank CEO Ashoke Shumsher Rana. Upon election, Bhandari will serve the umbrella organization of commercial banks for two years. He will lead a 10-member executive committee, which includes two vice-presidents and seven members. The election of other members of the executive committee, which is held every two years, will be held next year.
