BUSINESS BRIEFS: FCAN concerned

KATHMANDU, April 16: Federation of Contractors´ Association of Nepal (FCAN) on Friday said its attention was seriously drawn toward the act of stealing registered bids by some unconcerned groups while it was being opened at Center for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Bhaktapur.



The incident occurred while CTEVT officials were opening registered bids for the construction of an office building of Tikapur Polytechnic Institute in Kailali. [break]



“At a time when contractors are not being able to freely bid on public construction projects due to unhealthy practices, the act of stealing bids has seriously drawn our attention,” FCAN said in a statement received on Friday.



It has also requested authorities concerned to do the needful in ensuring free and fair competition.





Premier to give bonus shares



KATHMANDU, April 16: The annual general meeting of Premier Finance Company Ltd on Tuesday approved the proposal to provide 7.50 percent bonus shares to its shareholders.



“The company has recorded a net profit of Rs 10.33 million in this fiscal year, up from Rs 10.11 million recorded in the previous fiscal year,” the company said in a statement.



The company also managed to increase deposits by 75 percent and loans by 59 percent, according to the statement.





Paschimanchal Dev Bank in Palpa



KATHMANDU, April 16: Paschimanchal Development Bank opened its 6th branch in Rampur of Palpa on Tuesday. The new branch also has an ATM terminal which has been connected around 400 ATMs in the SCT Network, the bank said in a statement.



The bank will provide 9 percent interest on daily deposit in individual savings account and 12 percent interest in one year fixed account.



The bank has been providing modern banking facilities like ATM debit card, SMS mobile banking, internet banking and any branch banking services (ABBS) for its customers for free. It also provides money transfer services throughout the country through its PDBL Remit service.





United Finance opens branch at New Road



KATHMANDU, April 16: United Finance Limited has opened its new branch at Dharmapath in New Road, Kathmandu. Basanta Kumar Chaudhary, chairman of the company, inaugurated the branch amid a function on Friday.



According to a press release issued by the company, the new branch mainly aims to cater to the entrepreneurs in the trading hub of the capital city. The company has also announced that it would open new branches in New Road of Pokhara and Pulchowk of Narayanghat within the next one month.



United Finance has head office in Kathmandu and branches in Biratnagar, Butwal and Nepalgunj.
