KATHMANDU, Sept 18: With the Dashain festival nearing, bus entrepreneurs have decided to open bookings from Thursday. Transport entrepreneurs agreed to do so after the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) agreed to address their demands of revising transport fares and unfreezing their bank accounts. The government had frozen the bank accounts of transport entrepreneurs in May this year, in an attempt to end syndicates in public transport.
“We have held discussions with the entrepreneurs and assured them to address their demands. Only then, they agreed to open bookings for Dashain,” said Director of DoTM Gokarna Prasad Upadhaya. DoTM is holding further discussions with transport entrepreneurs to address the issues they have raised.
