Dipa Basnet, audio visual editor at the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) and one of the organizers, said, “This is the first time we’re organizing a film festival of this kind in Nepal. Through the festival, we would like to provide a platform for young filmmakers.”
She also informed that there were 70 applicants and 40 films, including documentaries, chosen by a panel of judges which had Rajesh Gongaju of Kathmandu Film Society, actor Ramesh Budhathoki, photographer Raj Bhai Suwal, Sujan Chitrakar from Kathmandu School of Arts, and producer Narayan Puri would be showcased at the fiesta.

The festival has been divided into competitive and non-competitive categories. Of the 40 films, 24 of them which include seven documentaries will vie for the “Best Buds Short Film”, “Best Buds Documentary Film” and the “Best Buds Film Fiesta Film” awards.
The winners will also be given opportunity to work in other filmmaking projects and provided with necessary equipments.
