Budget sought to repair Potmara hydro project

MANMA, July 30: Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot district drew the attention of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation for the repair and maintenance of Potmara micro hydropower project located in the rural municipality.

MANMA, July 30: Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot district drew the attention of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation for the repair and maintenance of Potmara micro hydropower project located in the rural municipality.


Mohan Bahadur KC, Chairman of the Rural Municipality, reached out the concerned authorities in the Ministry on last Friday and informed that the 500-kilowatt of micro hydropower was completely damaged by incessant rain in 2077 BS.

Chairman KC demanded an adequate budget to bring the only micro hydro power project in the district into operation again that has been in a standstill condition for the past couple of years. 


Although the locality around the Potmara micro hydro power project was connected with the National Transmission Line, Chairperson KC shared that he took initiatives to put the Potmara micro hydropower into operation again as an alternative arrangement for electricity. 


He said that he held a meeting with Santosh Silwal, deputy director of the Department of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Hydropower Project. The meeting then concluded that a team of engineers would be sent to the micro hydro power project site within a week for assessment and repair of the project."


The budget for the same would be allocated after estimating the cost for repair and maintenance of the project, KC said.
