Speaker Subas Nembang read out the letter sent by the President´s Office, proruging the session from 9 p.m. Monday.
Speaker Nembang said session lasted for 137 days and spent 150 hours and 52 minutes in 47 meetings in 45 days. [break] The House sent seven Bills to concerned committees out of the 12 Bills registered in the House. Of these, four are still in Legislation Committee.
In this session, the House endorsed two commitment motions tabled by Nepali Congress Lawmaker Ramesh Lekhak. The first demanded the government´s immediate action for providing relief to the victims of flood in far western Nepal and the second asked the government to ensure safety of the journalists and monitor press freedom.
The House also passed two motions of urgent public importance. Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) lawmaker Binod Chaudhari tabled a motion demanding House´s order to the government to take necessary precautions to safeguard Nepal´s economy from the impact of global financial crisis. Another such motion was tabled by Prakash Chandra Lohani of Rastriya Janashakti Party. The House passed the motion that called for its deliberation on the power crisis.
The House also passed a motion that called for attention of the Water Resource minister toward a trend of occupying rivers and rivulets by certain people and denying locals participation in construction of small hydropower projects.
