Winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first and scored 267/8 in 50 overs. Chasing the target, Nepal managed to score 248 losing nine wickets in 50 overs. [break]
Budayair slammed an excellent 114 runs off 142 balls with six boundaries. Nepali batsmen failed to make sound beginning as opener Pradeep Airee was out for one in the second over.
Budayair and opener Subash Khakurel shared a 139-run partnership for the second wicket, strengthening Nepal´s hope of a successful run chase. Khakurel was out for 59 runs off 96 balls, which turned to be a major setback for the team. Khakurel´s innings included five boundaries.
Budayair then shared 26-run partnership with Hasim Ansari. Ansari scored 11 runs off 19 balls before being bowled by Ish Sodhi. Budayair was firm at the crease but other batsmen failed to provide him good partnership. All of the remaining batsmen failed to reach a double digit score.
Arnie Yugaraja was the pick bowler for New Zealand as he pocketed three wickets conceding 25 runs. Three Nepali batsmen were run out.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Will Young stroked a fine 97 off 99 balls with 11 boundaries to lift New Zealand to the respectable total. He also shared 104-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Henry Walsh (53). Cam Fletcher scored 43 runs off 28 balls and shared 33-runpatnership for the fifth wicket with Young.
Saurav Khanal was the key bowler for Nepal as he claimed three wickets conceding 46 runs while Rahul Vishvakarrma took two wickets conceding 63 runs.
Nepal will take on Australia on 13 August at Tony Ireland Stadium, which will be telecasted live in ESPN and STAR Sports.
Meanwhile, top order batsmen Anil Mandal, Sarad Vesawakar and Gyanendra Malla have flown to India for training. Coach Pubudu Dassanayake had arranged their training in India before he left for U-19 World Cup. The three players will undergo training at Bangalore Global Cricket School till August 17.
They will join the other batsmen in Sri Lanka on August 18.
