BTMO adopts e-billing system<br/>NRNA chips in Rs 1.5m for trade schools

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: In a bid to provide hassle-free service to service seekers, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has introduced electronic billing (E-Billing) system at Bagmati Transport Management Office (BTMO) at Lalitpur. [break]



The introduction of E-Billing is expected to replace long queues at the office and provide hassle-free and timely service to service seekers. This will also help make day to day affairs at the BTMO more managed.



“With the launch of E-Billing system, revenue collection will be transparent and service delivery will be faster, reducing unnecessary hassle to public while paying revenue,” Sharad Chandra Paudel, director general of DoTM, told myrepublica.com on Tuesday. “The new system will also discourage tax evasion.”



According to Paudel, revenue paid by concerned vehicle owners would directly be entered into their respective accounts.



In the first phase, six revenue counters have been set up at the BTMO, where around 1,200 persons pay their vehicle taxes every day.



The DoTM is in the process of initiating scientific database and vehicle´s pollution test along with digital number plate system on vehicles under its reforms plan. The BTMO deals with registration and keep records of over 800,000 vehicles in Bagmati zone.





NRNA chips in Rs 1.5m for trade schools



KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) President Dr Upendra Mahato handed over a check for Rs 1.5 million to Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Kush Kumar Joshi amid a ceremony at the NRNA Secretariat on Monday.



According to a press statement issued on Monday, the amount is meant to be spent for the activities of trade schools promoted by the FNCCI. Trade school is the initiative of FNCCI to produce appropriately trained manpower required for industry and business in Nepal as well as outside of the country, according to the release. The trade schools are being operated by the district chamber members of FNCCI.



On the occasion, Dr Mahato said human resource is the key for nation´s progress and expressed happiness over the involvement of NRNA in developing skills manpower saleable in the foreign job market.



Kush Kumar Joshi thanked the NRNA and its president for the support and hoped that the collaboration would continue in future as well.



Eight trade schools are operational at present and three such schools are expected to be come into operation within the next year.
