“The party has the right to boycott the election, but it cannot disrupt the election,” said Sparkes, speaking to journalists in Nepalgunj. [break]
Stating that the CPM-Maoist still wants to partake in the election, Ambassador Sparkes added that the party itself would be at loss if it did not participate in the CA election.
He further said that it would be unbearable to the international community if the party did anything to disrupt the CA election. “At a time when majority of the political parities have geared up for the election, few political parities have no right to foil the election as it is the only way forward to lead the country to prosperity,” he maintained.
He said the government should take legal action against those who try to disrupt the election. “I am very optimistic that the election will be held on the slated time,” he said.
Sparkes was on a visit to Rolpa, Dang and Banke districts. “During my trip, I got a chance to understand opinions of public regarding the election and political parities,” said he, when asked about the tour.
During his stay in Nepalgunj, Sparkes held talks with industrialists, human right activists, members of various civil society, representatives of various political parities.
“We are ready to help in any way for brining political stability in Nepal. We are very happy that people are eager about the upcoming election,” he said.
