“It is likely that the contentious issues will be resolved,” Dahal said, stressing that a consenus is needed to be forged among political parties on the integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants prior to the PM’s India visit.
PM Bhattarai, also the party’s one of the three vice-chairmen, due to embark on a four-day official visit to India Thursday at the invitation of his Inidan counterpart Man Mohan Singh.
Dahal also made it clear that there would be no deal made with India on any disputed issues during the visit, and said the PM’s visit would mainly focus on economic issues. “The PM will lay a special emphasis on the implementation of the past pacts [with India],” he added.
Likewise, Dahal said the four-point deal reached with the United Democratic Madhesi Front would be reviewed within his party. “We may review the four-point deal within our party. This does not mean the [substance of] deal would be altered,” the Maoist chairman clarified.
