The facility was built by the family of the late Bhagawat Shrestha at a cost of Rs 1.5 million.
Sadhana Devi, the wife of late Shrestha, who is also the patron of the guesthouse management committee, handed over the key to Dr Purna Chandra Karmacharya, the vice-chancellor of the institute, amid a program Sunday. The guest house can accommodate over 100 people at a time.
"It has facilities like well-furnished bed-rooms, toilets, bathrooms and kitchens that can be used by the guests themselves, besides featuring a purely vegetarian canteen," said Mukesh Kayastha, a member of the construction committee.
"We hope that it can serve the attendants as well as those patients who could not afford long stay in lodges," he said. "It is necessary to get recommendations from the doctors concerned to avail the facility."
"We will soon fix affordable rates to bring it into operation," said Dr BP Das, director of the BPKIHS and the chairman of the guesthouse management committee.
